12 Days of Christmas - Day 12!

Hello, all! It's the final day of the 12 Days of Christmas for Smeared Ink! I can't believe it's already over! It seems like it just started. I wish for all of you to have a lovely holiday season and to spend it with your loved ones. I won't be on for a while since I'll be visiting family after Christmas and into the new year. So here is my last project for the 12 Days!

A couple of little projects to share with you all:

A DIY Gumball Machine Candy Bowl. I used a clay pot, saucers, and a glass bowl to construct this candy bowl. One of these was given to me quite a few years ago and I always thought what a wonderful idea it was. So here is one I made, painted blue and stamped snowflakes all over. The only thing missing on it is the knob that goes on top of the lid, which I haven't been able to go and buy yet. I filled it with an assortment of Hershey's kisses.

Burlap Tag. The tag is made out of burlap and was stamped with A Very Skelly Christmas stamps and colored with alcohol ink. I am going to add a ribbon to it later today, just didn't want to be late with my post for today.

Again, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever you celebrate! ~Hugs~

12 Days of Christmas - Day 11 & A Wicked Christmas

Hello, all! Today is Day 11 of the 12 Days of Christmas for Smeared Ink! And today I have combined my Day 11 project with a project for the Wicked Christmas Challenge over at Smudgy Antics. The image from Smeared Ink that I used for today's card is one of my favorites; this Santa is one of the coolest I've ever seen!

The Wicked Christmas Challenge is this:

Weekly Challenge - Wicked Christmas

We have another challenge for you this week, and we KNOW you will love it! Since the holiday is fast approaching we are allowing two weeks for this challenge. Oh...and once again we have tweaked the rules to hopefully inspire more participants.
Here's a reminder about the rules. The new rules will be in red.

*Each Monday morning a new challenge will be posted. It will contain that week's theme and prize information.

*To participate, you must make a project that fits the theme and add it to the post using the Inlinkz linky. Your link must take us directly to your project on a publicly accessible blog or website, or it will be disqualified - so please make sure you're linking to your actual post. It must be linked by midnight on the following Saturday, Pacific Time. This gives you six days to complete the challenge. *For this week's challenge we are allowing 2 weeks so participants can enjoy the holiday and still be able to play along.

*Your project can be anything (card, scrapbook page, mixed media, altered or 3-D item, etc) as long as it is handmade and stamped somewhere with either a rubber or digital stamp. We have taken into consideration our digital artist fans and will be allowing all-digi projects. Feel free to think outside the box and have fun with your project! We are all about looking at things differently and look forward to the variety of projects and mediums we are sure to see.

***Every entry, no matter what stamped image is used, will now qualify for a prize. Encourage your crafty friends to come play with us!

*You may use any stamped image, however only projects using at least one Smeared Ink image will be eligible to win placement in the "Top Three".

*You can only enter and qualify for a prize if you are, or become, a follower of the blog. While you're at it, why not visit the forum as well for more challenges?

*The weekly winner will be chosen by random number and revealed on Sunday. Prizes will vary and may range from a free digi to a coupon to a blog badge.

So let's get to it! Here's this week's info.

The Challenge: Wicked Christmas

We were originally going to have this challenge week's theme "Gothic Christmas" and the following week's theme was going to be "Wicked Santa". Because we are giving 2 weeks for this challenge, we are combining the themes. You may choose either theme to work with or combine the two.

And here is my card for both!

Steampunk Santa Card. Such an amazing Santa image! I love him! I used some The Paper Studio paper, a Echo Park word sticker, some random charms for the middle of the gears, and some Crystal Stickles. The gears were stamped with some foam stamps I made with my Vagabond and the Santa was colored with Copics and Stickles.

12 Days of Christmas - Day 10

Hello, all! We're nearing the end of the 12 Days of Christmas for Smeared Ink and it has been a wonderful experience! I have seen so many fantastic projects from everyone these past days. I've gained so much inspiration! So thank you to all the participants, whether they are Jolly Bloggers or Merry Hoppers, or just popped in real quick to take a peak. This has been a wonderfully fun adventure.

Here is my project for today! And it's not a Christmas card! Lol. It's a candy wrapper!

For these candy wrappers I just scanned an old coloring book page and made it into a digi stamp. I removed the snowman's hat so I could give him a nice new felt one. I colored him in with Copics and Stickles, cut him out and glued him onto a festive background paper (the size of the candy bar's original wrapper), and wrapped the candy bar with the finished wrapper. I wrapped some felt around his head and made him a snow cap to match his scarf. I've made these two already and have snowmen colored in different colors to make more. These are such cute little gifts and stocking stuffers! I got this idea from a candy bar wrapper I saw on Pinterest but I did not want to download the actual label for printing, so I made my own.

Hello, all! Day 8 of the 12 Days of Christmas for Smeared Ink! Now these examples are just quickie cards because my hubby just got back from Iraq yesterday afternoon and I have been busy preparing for his arrival that I have not had too much time to create. But these two cards are cute, even if they are simple.

The Challenge: Inspired by a Book, Poem, or Film

For my inspiration, I used the book/poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas":

Not Even a Mouse Card. For my inspiration, I used the Calypso digi stamp from Smeared Ink. I also used some Smeared Ink Gothic Christmas digis for the borders. The papers are all from The Paper Studio and I stamped some snowflakes on the creme background. The stamps were colored with Copics and I added some Christmas Red Stickles as an accent. The alphas are Thickers.

I really hope some of you will join in the fun and be inspired to participate in this challenge!

Punky Scraps Challenge 36

For the 12 Days of Christmas Day 5 post, scroll down to the next post.

Hello, all! Since the holiday season is such a busy one for everyone, the Punky Scraps team decided that there would only be one challenge this month. And here it is:

Challenge 36 is to create something inspired by the following photo and sketch!

Happy December Punky Readers!! It's time for a challenge.....the only challenge this month for which I will draw the winner in January! So to kick start our punky festive season here is a gorgeously cute christmassy teddy bear to get you in the mood for creating!!! :)
Your challenge is to use this sketch to inspire you to create - it doesn't have to be about Christmas but bonus points if you do!!!

THERE IS A TWIST!!!!

As there is only one challenge I will incorporate all three of our challenges into one!!

You have your picture above for the Christmas cheer, the sketch below for inspiration and the twist is you MUST include ONE of the following:

* corrugated cardboard*
*stamping*
*paint*
*misting*
*stars*
*ribbon*

This is the page I created with those inspirations! I did the twist and used stamping. The black snowflakes are stamped (the stamps are from The Greeting Farm).
12 Days of Christmas Layout. This is the page I was inspired to create with the photo and sketch above. The photos are from a trip to the Nature In Lights display near where we live in 2009. We go every year and I take pictures every year but I never scrap them. So I thought it was about time, when I saw that sketch. The paper is from K and Company, the alphas are Thickers, and the poinsettias are from a garland I bought and but up.

I really hope you'll join in the holiday fun and participate in this challenge!

Simply Betty 12 Days of Christmas - Day 3

Hello, all! Here is another day in the 12 Days of Christmas over at Simply Betty Stamps.

No home is complete for the Holidays without a Christmas wreath right?

So.. today we challenge you to create a project and put a Wicked Wreath in it! You can even make it an actual Wreath! Like Jack Skellington says...

“A man-eating plant makes a wonderful wreath… as long as you don’t get caught in its teeth.”
Isn't that just cheery and cute! HA!
Today we have a third new Non released digi from our upcoming __________________ line! Like the two prizes before, these are brand spankin' new, their release will be next year! You won't want to miss this one either!

For this challenge, I made a wreath ornament.

Jack Skellington Wreath Ornament. I bought some cheap wreath ornaments from the dollar section at one of my local stores and covered it with gray yarn. I added a large glittery snowflake and a Burton Chibi Digi Stamp to the middle. The "ornaments" are glittered brads that I had in my stash.

Simply Betty 12 Days of Christmas - Day 2

For the Smeared Ink 12 Days of Christmas - Day 3, scroll down one post.

Hello, all! It's Day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas over at Simply Betty! Today's challenge is to use a spooky tree in your creation.

Here is the challenge description: (to view it over at Simply Betty's and check out the DT's creations, click here)

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree...

You all know that Christmas Carol right?

Well here in SBS land we follow the Nightmare Before Christmas SCAROLS instead!

So today we have a song inspired challenge for you...

Old Mansion Tree.. it goes something like this...

“Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

Your leaves are sharp and Prickly

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

You bring a gloom that’s sickly!”

Your branches droop with moldy care

Your smell of mildew fills the air

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

You clear the room so quickly!

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

Oh how we decorate you

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

With ornaments we weigh you

Your limbs and limp with bats and bows

Your tinsel tarnished years ago

Old Mansion Tree, Old Mansion Tree

A fire place awaits you!”

Pretty fun yeah? I love singing this Christmas Scarol during the Halloween/Christmas season at Disneyland, they play it outside of the ride as guests wait to get into the Haunted Mansion that is all decked out with Nightmare Before Christmas!

You are challenged to create a project with a Scary Christmas tree!

Adorn it with spiders, bats, and pumpkins!
Prize:
One Non Released Digi from our _____________________ line! Imagine, you will be the first (aside from the DT and I) to see this new image for our upcoming release, which may NOT be available in digi form. You don't want to miss this awesome Prize! Minimum of 6 participants for this prize. If we have less than 6 participants, the prize will not be issued. It will go into a large end of the 12 days prize, we will put the participants of the challenges that had less than 6 in a large drawing at the end and that person will will everything that was not issued!

Here is what I created for this challenge:

Christmas Card. I used the same Simply Betty Stamp as I did for the card in the post below, but colored her differently. I gave her a black tree to decorate. I used some papers I bought from Simply Betty's Shop in a kit. I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to make metal stitches around the card, to give it an edgier feel. The little piece of red ribbon just gives this card that extra pop of red.
